Size & Space Considerations

What Will You Use Your Shed For?

Your shed’s intended purpose will guide many of your decisions when choosing the right model. You might need a compact space for storing garden tools, bicycles, or fuel, or perhaps you're looking to create a dedicated workshop or DIY area. Whatever your current needs, it’s also important to think ahead—your shed should be able to grow and adapt with you over time.

Choosing the Right Shed Size

Measure your space and consider access for delivery.

Most Popular Sizes:

📐 1.8x1.8m / 6x6 ft – Great for smaller gardens

📐 2.4x1.8m / 8x6 ft – A popular size for general storage in a standard size garden

💡Tip: Allow approximately 12"/30cm between your new garden shed and any existing fence or wall.

Quality Materials

At Timbertrove, we use only the finest materials and finishes to ensure long-lasting performance. Our premium garden sheds are constructed with the highest quality pressure treated timber for exceptional durability and longevity. Here’s what sets our construction apart:

Pressure-treated timber: Protects against fungal decay and insect damage, extending the shed’s lifespan.
22mm tongued and grooved boards: Used in floors and roofs for structural strength.
Super green mineral felt: Covers all roofs for enhanced weather resistance.
125mm x 22mm log pine boards: Pressure-treated and highly durable walls.
Frame Shield lining: Shields the interior from wind, rain, snow, and dust.
Robust framing: 50mm x 35mm timber, with 75mm x 35mm for doors.
Galvanised hinges and pad bolt: For secure, rust-resistant fittings.
Discreet skirting: Hides solid block supports, dependent on level ground.

This thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship make our sheds a secure and weatherproof solution for storing garden tools, equipment, and more.

Roof Styles Explained

We offer a variety of roof styles and upgrade options to suit your space, aesthetic, and practical needs:

Apex Roof: This traditional pitched roof design provides excellent headroom and a classic appearance, making it a popular choice for general garden use.

Pent Roof/ Lean To Roof: With a modern single slope, the pent roof is ideal for placing against walls or fences and works well in gardens with limited height clearance. Our Ferndale Shed & Bike Shed feature this sloped roof, which allows for greater customisation if you are looking for a made to measure shed.

To enhance both durability and appearance, we also offer roof upgrades:

Standard Felt Roof: There are basic roof felts available which may only last for 5 years, we use an excellent quality roofing felt which should last for 12-15 years. Roof felt has the beneift of being reasonably easy to repair or replace. This is our most popular choice.

Steel Roof: Long-lasting, low-maintenance, and highly weather-resistant, steel roofs are ideal for those seeking a more permanent solution. As metal has a tendancy to condensate, we fit the steel roof on top of our standard roof felt, giving you a second roof covering.

Felt Roof Tiles: Available in black, green, or red, these tiles offer a more decorative finish while still maintaining excellent waterproofing and insulation properties.

Shed Features & Custom Options

At Timbertrove, we know that every garden and customer is unique. That’s why we provide many features and customisation options for your perfect shed:

Windows: Add more windows for natural light, or skip them for better security and privacy.

Shelving & Workbenches: Include sturdy shelving or custom workbenches to keep your shed organised and useful.

Doors: Select wide double doors for easy access or half-stable doors for a classic look. Limitations will apply depending on which shed style you choose.

Paint Options: You can paint your shed to match your style. We suggest waiting about six weeks after installation. This allows the pressure treated timber to settle, ensuring the best paint adhesion and a long-lasting finish. View our paint range here

Preparing For Installation & Access Required

We take the hassle out of shed installation by offering a complete, start-to-finish service. From preparing the base to final setup, our expert team does it all, including laying foundation blocks (supplied by us!), removing your old shed if needed, and installing your new one.

To ensure everything runs smoothly on installation day, we ask for a photo of the site beforehand. It's important that the site is clear of any bushes, debris, or obstacles before we arrive. The area must be level, as a flat surface is essential for a stable and long-lasting shed.

Access required: Side entrance with no overhead height restrictions or similar. If you do not have a side entrance we can make the shed in a modular form for an additional cost. We may need to check the walk way through your home to ensure there are no tight turns which may prevent us from carrying the shed through your house.

Delivery & Installation

We deliver and install sheds across the Greater Dublin Area, for all other areas please contact us.

Lead times vary greatly depending on the time of year, typically sheds are installed 2–3 weeks from your order date.

Clients must be present or have a representative to oversee the installation and agree the position of the shed. Installation will last approximately 2-3 hours.

Maintenance & Warranty

Pressure treated Timber will gradually weather in colour, first to a honey brown and eventually to a silver grey. This does not indicate any loss of preservative protection.

A quality wood stain or paint can be used to add colour to your garden shed. We recommend waiting 6 weeks after installation to apply paint. This is to ensure the timber is completely dry and treatment has settled.

A quick clean with soapy water or wood cleaner, and a new coat of wood stain or paint will keep your timber shed looking great.

Timbertrove 5 Year Guarantee: We offer a 5 year guaranteed on our sheds, however of sheds have a life span of 15 - 20 years.
